The Pandan masterclass

On Wednesday 17 September, Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur officially launched in the United Kingdom with an inspiring evening at the Dutch Taproom “It Ain’t Much If It Ain’t Dutch” in the heart of London. The event marked the start of our collaboration with PR Dutch Drinks, our new importer and distribution partner for the UK.

I (Marc Pieplenbosch, co-founder of Bandoeng’22) travelled to London to personally meet importer Patrick van der Peet and his team, and to introduce bartenders, bar managers, and drinks professionals to the unique flavor, aroma, and color of pandan.

Launch event
The evening began at 18:00 with a warm welcome and a Masterclass Pandan for Bartenders, where I shared the story behind Bandoeng’22 and explained why pandan is so deeply connected to our Dutch Indonesian heritage. Guests learned where pandan comes from, how it has been used for centuries in Asian cuisine and rituals, and how its sweet, floral, slightly nutty character pairs beautifully with Asian spices and contemporary cocktails. We explored how to use pandan in modern drinks and how Bandoeng’22 captures that essence in every bottle.

Throughout the night, visitors enjoyed signature serves and cocktails created with Bandoeng’22, accompanied by traditional Indonesian bites that highlighted the spice and depth of Southeast Asian flavors. The setting, informal yet full of energy, encouraged conversations about creativity behind the bar and new ideas for cocktail menus across the UK.

Introduction of Bandoeng’22
The London launch was an important milestone for Bandoeng’22. It strengthened our partnership with PR Dutch Drinks, introduced our pandan liqueur to an influential network of bartenders and bar managers, and marked the beginning of our growth in the British market.

With the warm welcome we received, and the enthusiasm shown by everyone present, we are excited to see how Bandoeng’22 will inspire UK bartenders and cocktail lovers in the months and years to come.
