On the 20th of July we were invited by our good friends of The Spiritists to give a masterclass Bandoeng’22 to the bartenders of Cologne and surrounding cities. It was an introduction to pandan, pandan cocktails and food pairing for early-adapting bartenders to broaden their ‘flavor-horizon’ with new and upcoming trends (us!)
We were guests at the beautiful Bar Botanik located at the rooftop of Hilton’s Wasserturm hotel in the center of the city Cologne. Bar manager Ehsan Kasem, Headchef Michael Szofer and Ronny Hirt (founder The Spiritists) welcomed us.
The Bandoeng’22 team gave an presentation about the popular flavoring from Asia called Pandan and a presentation about Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur. We brought bartender Caco Mosan from bar Amehoela Rotterdam to do a guest shift and let him take over the cocktailbar at Botanik.
Headchef Michael’s team served the attending bartenders some delicious food whereby the challenge for our guests started. They had to make and create a Bandoeng’22 cocktail on the spot that pairs with the served food. The winning cocktails were put on the menu for the evening at Bar Botanik.
We ended the masterclass with a Weekend-Warm-Up-Bandoeng’22-Party at the rooftop bar.
