Negroni Paradiso – Pandan Liqueur Cocktail
The Negroni Paradiso is a bold pandan liqueur cocktail created by renowned bartender Julian Bayuni of Vesper Bar Amsterdam. Inspired by the classic Negroni, this version introduces pandan to create a tropical twist on one of the world’s most famous cocktails.
Made with Bandoeng’22 pandan liqueur, gin, vermouth and Campari, the cocktail balances herbal bitterness with aromatic sweetness. Pandan is often described as the “vanilla of Asia”, bringing warm notes of vanilla, coconut and toasted nuts that soften the bitterness of Campari.
The Negroni Paradiso is a sophisticated pandan cocktail that blends classic Italian cocktail culture with Southeast Asian flavour.
Icons of the Dutch cocktail scene
Julian Bayuni and Vesper Bar Amsterdam are well-known names in the Dutch cocktail scene. We recently discovered that Julian’s signature cocktail is the Negroni Paradiso—a bold and flavorful twist on the classic Negroni, featuring Bandoeng’22 as a key ingredient.
Located in the heart of the Jordaan, Vesper Bar has been a neighborhood favorite since 2010. Every visit promises spectacular cocktails and a top-tier experience, thanks to Julian and his team of award-winning bartenders. Whether you’re in the mood for a Vesper Martini or the Negroni Paradiso, this bar is a must-visit for cocktail lovers.
When asked about his inspiration for the cocktail, Julian explained, “I love bold flavors, especially those which represent my Indonesian heritage. Pandan liqueur contrasts the bitterness of the Campari and gives the Negroni a long, rounded finish.”

Why bartenders use pandan liqueur in cocktails
Bartenders around the world are increasingly experimenting with pandan liqueur because of its unique flavour and colour. The aromatic pandan leaf adds tropical notes similar to vanilla and coconut, while its natural green colour creates visually striking cocktails.
Bandoeng’22 pandan liqueur was developed specifically to bring these Southeast Asian flavours into modern cocktail culture.
