A timeless Cognac classic with Bandoeng’22
The Sidecar is one of the world’s great classic cocktails. Created in the early 1920s, it has remained a favourite for over a century thanks to its elegant balance of Cognac, orange liqueur and fresh lemon juice.
Our interpretation stays true to that classic foundation while introducing Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur. The fragrant notes of pandan, reminiscent of vanilla, toasted coconut and aromatic rice, soften the citrus and beautifully complement the warm oak character of Cognac.
The result is a silky, citrus-forward cocktail with greater depth, a softer finish and a subtle Asian twist.
Ingredients
- 35 ml (1.5 oz) Cognac (VS or VSOP)
- 20 ml (0.5 oz) Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur
- 15 ml (0.5 oz) Triple Sec or Cointreau
- 25 ml (0.75 oz) Fresh lemon juice
- Light sugar rim (optinal)
- Lemon twist (garnish)
- Glassware chilled Coupe glass
- Cubed ice
Method
- Chill a coupe glass.
- (Optional) Create a light sugar rim using fresh lemon juice and fine sugar.
- Fill a shaker with ice.
- Add all ingredients.
- Shake vigorously for approximately 15 seconds.
- Double strain into the chilled coupe.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
Taste profile
Bright citrus opens the cocktail, followed by rich Cognac and delicate orange notes. The pandan liqueur adds layers of vanilla, fragrant rice and soft tropical aromas, resulting in a Sidecar that is smoother and more rounded than the classic version.
