The Bandoeng’22 Negroni cocktail

A cocktail from bartender Daryl Lieuw-On (The Rumah, Rotterdam)

Our friend Daryl has developed a number of cocktails especially for us. Among other things, his variant on the Negroni. The Negroni is a popular Italian cocktail, usually made with Gin, Vermouth and Campari. It is drunk as an aperitif. A well-made Negroni is stirred and poured into an old-fashioned glass with ice. In this signature cocktail, Daryl has incorporated pandan by using Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur. This adds a nutty, tropical flavor to the traditionally bitter base. Followed by a hint of Maraschino cherry.

Ingredients
40ml (1.35 fl oz) Bandoeng’22
30ml (1.01 fl oz) Campari
20ml (0.68 fl oz) Luxardo Marachino liqueur

Garnish with cherry and pandan leaf

Method of preparation
Grab an old-fashioned glass and put enough ice in it. Pour Bandoeng’22, Campari and the Maraschino liqueur into a large stirrer glass with plenty of ice. Stir the drinks well with the help of a bar spoon, so that the whole is also cold. Using a strainer, pour your cocktail into the old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a pandan leaf and possibly a Maraschino cherry.

Foodpairing suggestion

We like to serve Pangsit Goreng with Bandoeng’22 Negroni. This deep-fried meat filled dumpling is very popular in The Netherlands among the Dutch-Indonesian community. The crispy, salty appetizer is served with a sweet chili sauce and pairs very well with our cocktail. For the recipe of this dish, click here
