Introducing our second liqueur
Berlin, we’re coming back. From October 12th to 14th, Bandoeng’22 will return to Bar Convent Berlin, one of the world’s leading meeting places for the international bar and beverage industry.
This year will be a particularly exciting edition for us. Alongside our award-winning Pandan Liqueur, we will introduce Bandoeng’22 Spiced Tamarind Liqueur to the international bar community for the first time. Three days of tasting, mixing, meeting old friends and making new connections, with two distinctly different Bandoeng’22 flavors behind the bar.
From pandan to tamarind
When Bandoeng’22 first arrived at BCB, our story revolved around pandan: a flavor deeply rooted in Southeast Asian food culture, yet still relatively undiscovered in the European drinks world.
This year, we are bringing the next chapter. Inspired by rujak, the vibrant Southeast Asian fruit dish known for its interplay of sweet, sour, spicy and savory flavors, our new Spiced Tamarind Liqueur explores another side of the flavors we grew up with. Tamarind, warming spices, Indonesian arrack and layers of sweet, sour and umami come together in a liqueur created specifically with cocktails in mind.
At our stand, visitors will be able to taste both Bandoeng’22 Pandan Liqueur and Spiced Tamarind Liqueur neat. We will also serve a selection of cocktails and mixed drinks to show just how versatile these two very different flavors can be behind the bar.
Made for bartenders
BCB is where the international bar community comes together, making it the perfect place to introduce Spiced Tamarind beyond the Netherlands. Bartenders have always played an important role in the development of Bandoeng’22. They experiment with our flavors, challenge us, combine them with ingredients we might never have considered and ultimately show what our liqueurs can become in a glass.
With Spiced Tamarind, we are particularly curious to see what happens. Its combination of sweet, sour, spice and umami opens up a completely different spectrum of cocktail possibilities from refreshing highballs, sours and Palomas to Daiquiris, Mezcalitas and spirit-forward drinks.
BCB will be our opportunity to put the bottle into the hands of bartenders from around the world and hear their reactions firsthand.
Building Bandoeng’22 internationally
BCB is not only about cocktails. For Bandoeng’22, it is also an important international meeting point. Importers, distributors, buyers, bartenders and brand owners from markets around the world come together in Berlin. It gives us the opportunity to meet existing Bandoeng’22 partners again, discuss developments in their markets and introduce them to our newest addition. And, of course, we hope Spiced Tamarind will spark some new conversations as well.
Following its introduction in the Netherlands, our ambition is to gradually bring Spiced Tamarind to the international markets where Bandoeng’22 is already represented and to new markets that are ready to discover our flavors. Perhaps some of those first international bottles will find their way out of Berlin.
Meet the people behind Bandoeng’22
Throughout all three days, Bandoeng’22 founders Mariska van Beek, Fajar Ramadhany and Marc Pieplenbosch will be at the stand. For us, that is an important part of BCB.
We want people to taste our liqueurs, but we also want to have the conversations behind them: about pandan and tamarind, about rempah, about our Dutch-Indonesian roots and about why we believe these flavors deserve a place in contemporary cocktail culture. BCB gives us three days to do exactly that.
See you in Berlin
