Rich, aromatic and beautifully spiced
The Tamarind Old Fashioned gives the timeless Old Fashioned a warm, tropical twist, combining aged rum with the rich sweet-sour character of Bandoeng’22 Spiced Tamarind Liqueur.
Aged rum brings notes of oak, vanilla, caramel and spice, while tamarind adds dark fruit, gentle acidity and subtle savory depth. Angostura bitters ties everything together with aromatic spice, and fresh orange oils lift the drink with a bright citrus finish.
Rich and complex, yet remarkably smooth, this is a slow-sipping cocktail that shows a completely different side of tamarind.

A tropical take on a timeless classic
At its core, an Old Fashioned is about allowing the base spirit to shine, supported by sweetness, bitters and dilution. In this variation, Bandoeng’22 Spiced Tamarind Liqueur takes the place of the traditional sugar component.
The dark, concentrated fruit character of tamarind works naturally with aged rum. Both share notes that lean towards caramel, spice and dried fruit, while tamarind introduces a subtle acidity that gives the cocktail an extra dimension.
Rather than turning the Old Fashioned into a fruit-forward drink, the liqueur becomes part of the cocktail’s structure: adding sweetness, complexity and spice while allowing the aged rum to remain at the center.
